"Always Be Prepared"

Thats what the Scouts motto has always been, "Always Be Prepared." Well all day we did just that, got prepared. From registering with the Harbor Master to rigging the sails. We the crew of the Sailing Vessel Vanilla are preparing to set out to sea on Wednseday.

Early in the morning we went to see the Harbor Master who told us, "You are not in America. You are in Croatia now." Geez we just asked him what time it was. No, not true we actually were just registering Terry and Mary to the vessel. The official turned out to be quite helpful though lacking in any knowledge of the islands we plan on visiting. See map.

We plan on sailing from Split to an island called Hvar. Mary says she read there was nude beaches there. WooHoo! This time the cold might work to my advantage. hehehe (yes I know I keep switching from 1st person to 3rd person narrative.) After Hvar we will sail to Korcula then to Dubrovnik. Serge says we may have other stops dependent on conditions. Dubrovnik we'll be our last Croation destination. After which we will make a multi-day passage to Bari, Italy.

Serge is getting high
This afternoon we continued our preparation by getting the sails and rigging in order. Serge who's motto is "I get grumpy for the fun of it" climbed the mast to ensure a smooth running operation.

This is Serge waving hi as he is high.
